MAESTRO OSEI ABEYIE MAXWELL. THE ART BLACKSTAR IN FRANCE

Stars are always discovered far from their dates of Birth. Today with all pleasure GHACIF presents Maxwell Osei Abeyie a leading French artist of Ghanaian origin. At childhood Maxwell new nothing about art but curiousity made him follow the footsteps of his senior brother Nana Kusi who had finished inventing a hand made projector. Nana Kusi, an artist brother was equally good and impressive in other artistic works.See pictures of some of his works.

After several years of collaboration Maxwell decided to major in this direction. This made him attend the College of Art and Industry CIAT near KNUST in Kumasi. After school, he practised for several years in Ghana. He was also a dancer and culturiste for the Popular KOO NIMO group. Today many friends of his in France call him KOO NIMO for that reference.

On his arrival in France in 1989, he was immediately discovered by Nana Aburokyirede who immediately enstooled him AgoroHene of France for Ghanaians, when he saw him dance Adowa at a Montreuil ceremony. Our Blackstar has since been discovered and appreciated by the French artistic circles and this has earned him places on popular TV programs such Ciel mon Mardi on TF1and TV5/ARTE cultural programs. He has travelled accross the planet to represent the honour of France in several artistic competitions and exhibitions. He is a frequent demonstrator for the Alliance Francaise in Ghana.

Maxwell has not neglected his people, very often he animates independence day celebrations for the Ghana Embassy in France.

Nana Yeboah as he is called in family circles is from the Royal family of Asakyiri and Ayigya Stool Lands where the sitting Chief is Nana Fredua Agyemang a close collaborator of the Asantehene. He is also an Akyempim(i.e Asanteheneba) by virtue of his belonging to that family. That is where 1st wives of all Asantehenes are chosen from.

GHACIF is proud of this Persisting Blackstar.

.SANKOFA,
in the Akan language of Ghana, literally means «go back and retrieve » . The symbol is based on a mythical bird that flies forward with its head turned backwards. This reflects the Akan belief that the past serves as a guide for planning and building the future.
