........................Checking Violence Among The Ghanaian Youth In France (The Way Forward)

"‘Parents should do their utmost to guide the youth in relationship so as to prevent incidents which would bring pain to all parties concerned"
These are the words of exhortation from Rev Osei Kwame Michael the district Pastor for the Paris diocese of the Church of Pentecost . He has told GHACIF NEWS that.
Relationchips among the youth, normally, is beset with peer influence, gossips and misunderstandings.

The culture of tolerance among a greater number of the youth of today is very low. Some people place the blame on lack of supervision by parents and school authorities on the ins and out of our youth and the type of friends that they mingle with. Others too blame the whole debacle situation on the use of drugs, alcohol and other intoxicants by students. The crux of the matter must be found out and weeded out of society.

Currently, the youth seem to be influenced by the lots of films and other audio-visual programmes that abound in every home. Development in the audio-visual industry as well as information technology is very good for a developing community.

However, there is the need for serious education to the youth so that they can separate the chaff from the grain. There are very good programmes that the youth must be encouraged to patronise. However, there are other programmes that that depict violence which must as a matter of policy, not be shown to children between the ages of 10 and 18. Something really must be done to tune the minds of the of the youth towards restraint and patience.

In his conclusion, he said the youth must be encouraged and orientated towards good morality. They should above all be encouraged to participate in church youth programs. He advised that the Ghanaian Associations in France should organise programs that will help the maturity growth of our future generation.
