48TH REPUBLIC DAY MESSAGE FROM THE GHANAIAN COMMUNITY IN FRANCE REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL. (GHACIF)

His Exellency Ghana's Ambassador to France,Diplomats of the Ghana Embassy,Leaders of Ghanaian Associations, Pastors and Imams of our Community, Fellow compatriots and Friends of Ghana.

On the 1 st of July 1960, independent Ghana became a Republic under Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah our 1 st President. That day proclaimed Ghana's 1 st Republic Day.In our struggle to grow, Ghana has changed it's phases several times through the birth of otherRepublic Eras with constitutional changes and Governmental set-ups.

After the 2 nd Republic under Dr. K.A. Busia and the 3 rd Republic under Dr. Hilla Limann, we are in the 4 th Republic which begun on the 7/01/1993 under President Flt-Lt Rawlings and it continues with President Kuffour who will terminate his mandate this year 2008. Today is 1 st July 2008 and Ghanaians all over the world are celebrating our 48 th Republic day.

We wish all a happy Republic Day.

The Ghanaian Community in France Representative Council would like to take this opportunity to draw the attention of the Ghana Government to the need to demonstrate commitments to the fulfillment of mutual progress for Ghana and it's Diaspora.

We refer all to our 51 st Independence Day message but today, Specifically this is what we are asking for.

- A link of priviledge for all Ghanaians born and growing outside Ghana.We do not have to los etheir talents only to the benefit of their host countries.

-Equal Civic Rights(especially voting rights exercise) for all Ghanaians regardless of where they live.

-Right to participate freely in Ghana's development by having equal access to all functions of the public service.

-Co-Operation under the Ministry for Diasporean Relations to establish an effective efficient periodic review for Relations with Ghanaians outside Ghana.

-Creation of a standing invitation for Home-Coming to help build Ghana.

-Co-Operation with all outstanding associations of Ghanaian interest outside Ghana. A special Register of Reference should be opened at the Ministry for Diasporean Relations and department should be created to help them develop and attain objectives for Ghana.

Ghana is also for Ghanaians living outside the country. This is what we told President Kuffour when he met our community in Paris: Israel has always linked to all Israelites (Jews under the Universe) and even though it is a small country, it looks very big and strong. Ghana has the same potential of development if our Government does the same. After all a Ghanaian has headed the United Nations Organizations on our planet. What else can't we do;

We hope this call for awareness and commitments requested for progress will be considered for Ghana and it's people's interest. As we enter into the 49 th year of Ghana's 1 st Republic. Let us all once again inject another sense of solidarity into ourselves and seek to harmonize relationship between Ghanaians universally and also build Ghana for many HAPPY RETURNS AND HOME-COMING WITHOUT TEARS.
