Nana Akosua Frimpongmaa ( above, right ) of Sarcelles has been officially sworn in
as the Queenmother of Asante Akim people of France.
Accompanied by the GHACIF President and several Asante Akim people
the Queen called on Ohemaa Adwoakour ( obove, left ) Queen of the Ghanaian Community in France who is also a GHACIF Patron.
The swearing in ceremony took place this 28/02/2008 at 11 a.m. at the
La Plaine Saint Denis ( Royal Residence of Ohemaa Adwoa kour ).
In the absence of Nana Owusu Aburokyirede Chief of the Ghanaian Community in France, Queen Adwoa Kour and the OyokoHemaa of France ( above, left ) with their elders, received the announcing drinks and the oath of allegiance. They thereafter ushered the new Queenmother into the Royal Circle of the Ghanaian Community in France.
The Queens advised Ohemaa Frimpongmaa to await discouragements on her
new function but should not heed to them. They said, the task is noble and
patriotic. They were particularly happy because Asante Akim people now have
identified leaders and an official representation in France.
Nana Frimpongmaa thanked them and pledged to defend the image and interest
of Asante Akim people in France.
Until an Asante Akim Chief is chosen, the GHACIF President Hon. Osei Mensah
who is an Asante Akim native has accepted at the demand of the Ohemaa
Frimpongmaa and several Asante Akim people to be the interim Asante Akim
chief. The President has accepted the office by virtue of loyalty but has promised
to abdicate to the benefit of any other Asante Akim leader who will emerge. He explained that he would not like to combine the two functions indefinitely. He however thanked the Queen mother for the honour.
